I really hope Mr. Gengrich runs for office. I think that he realizes what Teddy Roosevelt knew. The office of the President of the United States is the Bully Pulpit. A man not only needs guts, wisdom, and a sense of integrity to be president, he also needs to be able to make his his case when he speaks. He needs to be able to make his point honestly and intelligently to rally people to a noble cause.
If we let the left wing media win the war on the 6:00 news,we will all lose. This isn't Viet Nam. These extremist are killing people all over the world. When Christians or Cristianity is ridiculed we don't hear of riots in all regions of the world, but put Mohammed in a cartoon with a bomb in his turban and the muslim world is so upset that they have to burn cities and make sure that people die. The liberal press would have us believe that we need to be more considerate of their religeous beliefs. Their beliefs condone murder of people who don't believe as they do. This is lunacy!
I also believe that Mr. Gengrich is proud to be an American. I am not a citizen of the U.N. I am an American.
God Bless Newt, God Bless the U.S.
P.S. Pray for our troops

In the future the availability of petrolium products will diminish. This is as sure as the rising of the sun. Sooner or later alternates must be found and used.

Ethanol is one possible substitution. Unfortnately we have to deal with the biomass issue.

Biomass: is the amount of fermentable organic matter available for the ethanol creation process. From each pound of biomass you get a specific volume of ethanol. Not all biomasses are equal either. Corn does not produce the same volume per unit as other sources, such as switchgrass.

Switchgrass offers us some serious advantages, for one it is a carbon sink, meaning that it pulls carbon from the atmosphere anr returns it to the soil. This should, over a long period of time, help reduce carbon components of the atmosphere.

Switchgrass is also a native North American plant and as such it is well suited to growing in this climate and dealing with the natural diseases and pests which will attack any crop.

Finally, Switchgrass can also be simply burned rather than converted into ethanol and used to power electrical generation plants.

Newt Gingrich Wins 2008 Straw Poll

Well it's about darn time! This will scare the pants right off any liberal green livered nany state commies in the nation. Newt is a bon-a-fide conservative politicial genius, and he might be going to DC!

All Americans who love freedom should jump on this band wagon and now. He's got a real shot at it, and he's an honest conservative. He won't get into office and the slink away from domestic issues. Newt made hay on domestic issues and, I'm guessing, can still deliver the goods.

I've said it plenty of times and I'll say it again. IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID. (Shameless stolen from Clinton, who was righ on that score.) The national budget is out of control. War or no war it's gone bananas in Washington. And guess what else? CONGRESS SPENDS THE MONEY, but the PRESIDENT HAS LOTS OF INFLUENCE. It's time to put the man who did more to balance the budget than any other man in recent history back into power.

Give Newt the reigns, and watch him kick some ass. He knows how to twist arms in Congress. He knows where the bodies are burried. He knows how to sell his idea to the establishment. We need Newt like yesterday.

High-resolution multi-transistor array recording of electrical field potentials in cultured brain slices
LINK: http://jn.physiology.org/cgi/content/abstract/00347.2006v1?maxtoshow=&HITS=10&hits=10&RESULTFORMAT=&author1=Fromherz&searchid=1&FIRSTINDEX=0&sortspec=relevance&resourcetype=HWCIT

This article is one of the recent showing the trend I, and so many others, have been predicting for years. That is the growing interoperability between biological things like brains, and electronic things like computers.

Does anyone really think that in a few more decades we will not have a neural interface that allows people to literally "jack in" to a system and control it all based on their brains? No need for an icky slow mouse and keyboard. Type as fast as you think. Compose music as you actually hear it. Perhaps even download your own memories into video displays.

The world will be a different place when a car can be driven without the need for hands and feet.

The upside seems almost endless.

The disabled can be made to walk again by controling machines that replace their missing or defective parts. We already can replace ears and other body parts. Why not a bionic eye that can see into the infrared spectrum or that has a telescopic attachment?

Journalism could change. Why bring along pesky cameras when all you need to do is download what the reporter actually saw.

Hey, this will revolutionize criminal justice too. Will a person have the right to refuse downloading his memories? When downloading memories could absolve, or convict someone so well. I mean, presumably most people who commit crimes remember them.

Espionage will never be the same!

Education might change dramatically too. Thus far I've talked about biological units controling electronic ones. But why not go the other way? Why not allow someone to simply insert a chip and suddenly be able to speak another language, cook a gourmet meal, or perform open heart surgery?

Now is the time to think about these things because they are coming. How far is too far? When does the machine replace the human? What can be done to keep the abuse of these advancements from getting out of control?

Is this the world we want? I know I want some of it. But the thing we seem to keep forgetting is that all technologies have a down side too. Will the bad outweigh the good here?
